About Holly

A reader, a writer, a cook, a mother, a wife, a gatherer of friends, and a joyful wanderer. Now, I'm studying to also be a teacher. In 2014, I moved to Hong Kong with my family, where my husband teaches second grade at an international school. It was this dynamic, globally-minded community that inspired me to marry a passion for children with a passion for teaching and learning. My wonderful undergraduate experience at Seattle Pacific University led my back to my alma mater for this new career pursuit as an educator.

Interest and Experience in Education

Currently working toward a master of arts degree in teaching, I have worked with children for over a decade. Past experiences include nonprofit, preschool, and camp settings from Colorado to Seattle, including work with families with a seriously ill child.

My endorsement will be elementary education (K-8) in Washington state, hopefully with the addition of an ELL endorsement to follow. I look forward to more exposure to kindergarten through third grade classrooms in the next two years.

The school where I work as a teaching assistant in Hong Kong practices workshop-based learning, with a large push toward play-based learning as well. The international, highly collaborative faculty inspire me to think about education beyond a basic American framework, and I am grateful for the chance to learn and develop alongside such talented teachers as I become one myself.
